Director Mischa Rozema, Riff Raff’s Tracey Cooper, producer Isobel Conroy and Icon Films Sofia’s Beba Yordanova, reveal the creative and practical challenges behind making an IP-heavy spot feel like a feature film.

Bringing together two global brands, Xbox and Fanta, is no mean feat and in the ‘Wanta Fanta?’ spot, the results are world-shaking. Directed by Mischa Rozema via Riff Raff and with service production of Icon Films Sofia (part of the Compass Rose group), the spot brings together two opposing energies, “Some of the coolest and darkest game characters known to mankind into the joyful universe of Fanta,” says Mischa, who treated the brief like “a feature film”. Dynamic and fantastical, the spot owes much to being shot on a New York-style standing set in Bulgaria, grounding the CGI elements in visuals that feel real.
